This is Geilich’s first major win since he took first place at the PartyPoker LIVE Millions in Barcelona in August 2018. Now Geilich’s career earnings are 3,478,618 USD, and according to this indicator he is in third place among all players in Scotland.

The main GUKPT Edinburgh tournament gathered 366 entries, which is why the prize pool was 310,220 pounds. This money went to 34 players. Katie Swift, who represents Team Grosvenor, took 32nd place and earned 2,230 pounds. Also in the prizes were Matthew Eardley, Brandon Sheils, Yucel Eminoglu, Colin Gillion and John Bousfield.

Final table

The first to leave the final table was the Irishman Geoff Kearney, who lost to the queens of Geilich with pocket eights. Robbie Ball put 35 BB with K-J, but lost to Craig Smith’s A-Q. The 7th place was taken by Timothy Chung, who won the GUKPT London main and earned 185,560 pounds in February of this year. Chung went all-in with A-J, but lost to Craig Smith’s A-Q.

Players ranked in the top 6 earned five-figure sums. Michael Kane went 3-bet with pocket tens and got a call from Geilich, who had K-K. No one improved, and Kane left the tournament. The fifth place went to James McLean, who with the top pair could not beat Abdul Mukit, who collected a set.

Craig Smith lost a big pot to Geilich and was knocked out after a few hands. Smith earned 21,710 pounds, which was the best result in his career. Lin Chen, who won the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour Blackpool (65,310 pounds), did not reach the heads-up quite a bit. Chen lost most of the stack after an unsuccessful bluff against Mukit. Chen lost the remaining chips when he lost the coinflip to Geilich.

It didn’t take Geilich long to beat Abdul Mukit in the heads-up and earn 79,590 pounds. Mukit received 55,840 pounds.
